2026 Curatorial Series: Aesthetic ESSENCE

The curatorial metaphor for our 2026 exhibition schedule is Aesthetic ESSENCE. 

In art, “aesthetic essence” refers to the fundamental qualities that give an artwork its artistic merit and unique identity, such as its emotional impact, beauty, or symbolic meaning.  It is the intrinsic, intangible quality that defines the work, which can be felt
as a “good feeling” when experienced.  It is the crucial element that transcends a work’s function, purpose, or
mere physical composition to create a profound and universal connection with the viewer. 

Key aspects of Aesthetic ESSENCE: 

 ~ Artistic Quality and Emotion:  Aesthetic essence is the intrinsic artistic quality that can allow art to function
effectively on a non-artistic level, such as evoking deep emotions. 

~ Intrinsic Properties: It is in the indispensable property that identifies a work, which artists often strive to imbue into their creations.  This is the “what” of the artwork, the core feeling or idea behind its creation. 

~Beyond Function:  It is a concept that pushes back against the idea of art being useful for instruction or action, arguing that its value is in its ability to simply create a mood or an experience, like a flower blossoming for its own joy.  The “uselessness” in this context is not a lack of value, but a focus on its inherent beauty and impact, separate from any external purpose.

As a small, women-led nonprofit community art gallery, our mission is simple: to create space—for art, for artists, for bold ideas.

This exhibition series is intentionally without a theme.
Why?  
Because we believe freedom fuels creativity. Without constraints, artists can take risks, explore deeply, and present
the work that speaks loudest—whether it’s a proud achievement or a daring experiment in progress.
There are no submission fees. No commissions. No content restrictions. No limits on size, medium, or material.
We exist to celebrate artistic expression in its purest form.
To promote, inspire, and make room for the creative process, wherever it leads.

All artists, doing whatever it is they do, are warmly invited to apply.

Artists can submit one piece each exhibition cycle.

The exhibitions are juried by a rotating group of local arts community members and are curated in response to the submissions accepted.  The Juror will select work for each exhibition by discovering threads that connect the submitted works—whether in theme, tone, or technique—while honoring exceptional craftsmanship and compelling presentation.
